Jim Reardon was one of my best friends growing up at Holy Family. We had a threesome, Jim, Billy LaRue, and myself that would every now and then wake up early on a Saturday morning and bicycle out to Pomona -- yes bicycle out to Pomona as there was a bowling alley there that had specials -- it was crazy, like 6 games for a buck. After that, we rode back along the Puddingstone Lake, as it was known back when. The unusual thing about this was that we were in 5th grade.

I lost contact with Jimmy when he went overseas to Japan to teach. Wish we could of gotten together to talk about old times but life has its ways.

I would like to say something about my closest and dearest friend. James and I met in the senior year of High School ,When I started dating his sister Timaree. He first didn't like that Idea, but when I came over ,He was tunning his guitar, I asked him to play something, man, He sounded great , so I asked to bring my guitar over and Jam for awhile, after he agreed we became best friends for forty years until his passing. James And I hung out most of the time writing and composing our songs , spending weeks at Carlsbad beach and sitting at the round table debating the news and world events. Joe Grossi and I always hung out at the Reardon house where Mrs.Reardon adopted me as her son. James was a very special person. He earned his Masters degree when he was 20 years old, and applied for the c.i.a. He took a teaching job in Japan and lived there twenty four years. He would fly back to so. Pas. every summer and I would meet him there with Joe Grossi and we would hit Carlsbad with the family. I have learned so much from this exceptional gifted Man, And I miss my friend whom I called Brother, there will always be a part of me that's missing but the memories and life he shared with us, is a very unique expierence, if your very lucky you will have that gift inbedded in your soul. How can you tell everyone all the stories of a persons life in such a small space, Those who had the honor of knowing James Reardon can tell you...: he touched my soul too". May God Bless him in his new journey until we meet again. I Miss you My Brother...My Friend....

I have been out-of-touch with the majority of my fellow students, and just started looking at the sphs69 site. Jim's death saddened me and I wish that I had kept more in touch with him. Like Leonard Mancini, I played guitar with Jim at his house, and he was in our band Northwest Territories which covered Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Still, Nash, and Young tunes. Jim was a special person and I will miss him. In the late 1990s I met Jim, his sister Tamara, Joe Grossi, and a few others at the John Bull pub and restaurant in Temple City. Ellen's brother, Mike, was the drummer in our band. Jim had a sweet singing voice and he had a knack for perfect harmonies. I used to kid Jim about his liking Bubble Gum music, Beatles, and The Monkees, and he took it well. I don't know what else to say except "Sleep well, sweet prince, and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest".
